The day started early with the 0830 appointment, for which mom dropped off baby and dad while she got ready for the day.
The check-up went well, with Penelope now weighing a massive 3,060 g (roughly 6 Lbs 11oz) and still measures 50 cm (20"). We're not quite back to the birth weight, but the machine is being fed, and we expect her to surpass it soon.
Penelope did great throughout until they had to take some blood. Needless to say, she did not like that one bit, but after two pricks on the heel and about 20 minutes of verbally expressing her discomfort for the whole clinic to hear, the deed was done.
After the appointment, the family decided to continue down the long, bureaucratic road that eventually leads to placing Penelope into the Army. We accomplished getting her into the almighty DEERS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System, this is where all Army dependents need to be registered in) as well as received the paperwork for adding her onto our medical insurance, and payroll. We finished things up by 3:00pm and went home exhausted.
The next day we went to the passport office where they took Penelope's picture and placed it in a folder ready to be sent away (along with mom and dad's passports as well-looks like we are staying in Germany for a while). So now we play the waiting game, and hope that her passport is complete before our trip back to the states on December 22.
The passport photo shoot was good practice for Ms. Penelope. Erica took some wonderful pictures of our little addition. One thing Penelope is, is modest. She hates being naked or anything close to it. As you can see, the pictures have her in that exact state. So you can guess, the shoot took some time, but the end result was worth it. Both Mom and Penelope did great.
